A chat at the stables with Symon Wilde

Symon’s Passion for horses began in his teenage years where he took it upon himself to develop a complete understanding of horses.

At completion of schooling Symon sought to gain experience and pursued work alongside some of the world’s top trainers. With a successful stable now based down in the western district of Victoria, Symon is a stylish gentleman on and off the track.

Sally Mallyon, Leading up to the Lafferty Thackeray Race Day on July 7th, jumps racing style contributor had a chat at the stables about what Symon's favourite go to piece was heading into winter.

Yes, I’m a Warrnambool local.

What is your favourite thing about the Warrnambool May Carnival & the jumps racing down at Warrnambool that makes it like no other?

My favourite thing about the racing down this way is the jumping & the people.

What is your most cherished memory from a past Warrnambool May Carnival?

Last years brierly/grand annual double with gold medals is my most cherished memory.

What is your favourite thing about jumps racing style?

Winter fashion, tweeds/flat caps

What is your one clothing or style item that you can’t go to the Jumps Racing without?

My Harris tweed flat cap

Would you recommend people travel to the the Warrnambool races?

Yes, it’s an experience like no other!
