We are pleased to announce the Australian 2020 jumps racing program.
The program, which offers $3.8million in prize money in Victoria and just over $1 million in South Australia has been developed by Racing Victoria (RV) and Thoroughbred Racing SA (TRSA) in consultation with the participating race clubs.
A total of 83 jumps races have been programmed for the 2020 season, the same figure as 2019.
Trialling will commence at Cranbourne on Friday 21st February with the first meeting of the season scheduled at Warrnambool on Thursday 12th March.
The J J Houlahan Championship Series, which showcases 16 feature races, will continue in 2020.
There are 6 days of jumps racing where the card will hold four or more jumps races on that day.
The Oakbank Racing Carnival in April will feature races worth $360,000 and the Warrnambool May racing Carnival will offer prize money of $785,000. It is anticipated that the Maiden Hurdle at Warrnambool on the first day of the carnival will again see multiple divisions , should a large number of acceptances be recieved for the race.
The Victorian season will conclude with Grand National Steeplechase meeting at Ballarat on Sunday 23rd August – an all exclusive jumps racing day.
The South Australian season will conclude on Sunday 13th September at Mt Gambier.
The $10,000 bonus for horses who win their first jumps race in Victoria will continue in 2020; a RV initiative, which provides an important incentive for owners and trainers.
